Two days before Thanksgiving, NEARR received an emergency request to take in Sammy, a 9-year-old epileptic Golden Retriever in poor health. Underweight, he had one of the worst ear infections that his foster mom had ever seen and his epilepsy was not under control. Three days after coming into foster care, he had to be rushed to the hospital as he had continuous grand mal seizures.
After Sammy was admitted to the hospital, the vets added a second medication to help control his epilepsy. It seems to be working as since then, Sammy has not had a single grand mal seizure!
His foster parents describe Sammy as being what a dog should be - easygoing, gets along great with people, dogs, kids, and cats. He likes walks, loves to be brushed and enjoys being petted. His favorite game is "Chase Me" and his favorite time of day is mealtime! Throughout all of his tests and hospitalizations, all of his vets have described him as a sweet dog and have stated that they wished that all of the dogs that they dealt with were as easy to work with.
Tests and the emergency hospitalization so far total over $1200. NEARR is committed to helping Sammy. Please help us help Sammy by making a donation toward the cost of his care.
